"Rapid Progress" is a common phrase in ancient Chinese classical novels. It roughly means that when an army is about to launch a sudden attack, the commanding officer will order the removal of the bells from the horses, tightly hold their mouths to prevent neighing, and have every soldier bite a stick to prohibit speaking. Then, in the silence of the night, they dash forward until they silently surround the enemy.
In fact, entrepreneurs often need to adopt such a strategy.
Making a lot of noise is not a good thing. Before the actual attack begins, one needs to run silently. It is advantageous for others not to see or understand you clearly, as it becomes difficult for them to judge your true value.
This ensures that not only can you see your competitors, but you can also dash forward before others react, making it impossible for your competitors to catch up with you later.
Furthermore, this is also a filtering mechanism that allows truly insightful individuals from organizations to help you. Only truly good investors and engineers can see the value in your work. Those who cannot see or understand the value of your work are not suitable for collaboration.
Lastly, the sound of horses neighing and people shouting can hinder your progress. In reality, a startup can make countless mistakes, but as long as it is fast enough, especially in the rapid evolution of its products, and the overall direction is correct, no one can stop it.
Quoting a line from T.S. Eliot's poem,
"People come and go, discussing Michelangelo."
Yes, they will continue to discuss Michelangelo, while Michelangelo himself quietly creates, just like you who are working hard at the present moment.
There are secrets that only entrepreneurs know, and there are things that only ambitious entrepreneurs know, and the most challenging thing is indeed having great ambitions.
"Rapid Progress" is a source of inspiration for my fellow ambitious companions!
