Every time I remember that moment,
When you could chat with strangers deep into the midnight,
In serene contemplation, each pair of eyes seemed lost in thought
Under the banyan tree, stars shone undistracted。
After many years, we've lost our capacity for romance,
Our gazes no longer hold that spirited dance,
The calluses on our hearts have grown heavy,
No longer do we laugh at simple naivety.
The incandescent moon ascends, claiming the tips of the willow trees
Neon lights bewilder your spirit,
Beneath the ivy trellis, the souls of lovers are unseen,
In the nightclub pool, bodies lie in silence.
So potent is the Earth's gravitational embrace,
That fingertips fail to touch the stars in space
Dust and haze have overwhelmed the smile's grace
Thoughts of jealousy weave a web, trapping the drifting dust,
The stranger before you, once a friend, now an unfamiliar face.
We can't return to that night, that moment,
Can't return to the time when our spirits danced,
No longer can we chat with strangers untill the midnight,
Even if those once-strangers have become us.
